A note from our Green Coffee Buying & Roasting team, Eric “Ponch” Estrel, Oscar Garcia, Paul Ortiz, and Sebastian Simsch

The United States has long stood as a beacon of tolerance, inclusion, and liberty. Our predecessors rejected colonial rule (and tea!), opting to treat everyone as equal and worthy of a voice in their own government. While always a work in progress, this country shines with hope, ideas, and real progress toward a better life for millions of people, both in and outside its borders.
The Seattle community in particular has shown remarkable vision toward a kinder future. (Our county, King County, is the first and only county in the US named after an African-American.) We chose to name our house espresso blend Seattle Space to honor this city’s openness to the world. As a sanctuary city, we don’t build walls, we build bridges. The rainbow colors of Seattle Space Blend draw from the 1962 World Fair, representing the diversity of people’s experiences and perspectives, and the dream of a better future. The coffee in this blend comes from Guatemala, Ethiopia, and Kenya, and is designed to taste delicious in any brewing device, from a high-end espresso machine to a humble campfire pot.
Seattle Space Blend is a love song for a city that strives and sometimes stumbles toward becoming what Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. called a “Beloved Community,” a place where everyone matters and everyone is cherished.
